The education system in Portugal is divided into two subsystems: university education and non-university higher education. It is offered in public and private institutions and operates within a European framework.
To enter college or university in Portugal, a student must have completed 10 or 12 years of schooling. Higher education is taught in Portuguese and other international languages such as English, German, and French.
Programs offered include professional courses, diploma and certificate programs, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and PhDs.
Scholarships and grants are available for both EU and non-EU students who are enrolled in a university recognized by the Portuguese Ministry of Education.
International students have the right to receive an education in Portugal. Primary education is free for international students in government schools, but higher education is paid, except for PhD students and researchers. 
To be admitted to university, an applicant must have completed 12 years of schooling and have proficiency in English or Portuguese. universities offer courses in both English and Portuguese. The average tuition fee for international students is 3500-7000 euros per year.
