PORTUGAL D-2 VISA

The Portuguese D-2 visa is a long-term visa for business entrepreneurs, freelancers, and independent professionals who wish to establish their future business in Portugal and the Schengen area.

This visa, also known as the entrepreneur, independent professional, and start-up visa, is available for entrepreneurs, independent professionals, start-ups, investors, company owners, shareholders, partners, board of directors, branch owners, and shareholder partners.

To obtain a Portuguese D2 visa, you must have a motivated and reliable business plan with in-depth research about your future business in Portugal and the country. You must demonstrate a strong connection and knowledge of the Portuguese territory and business community, and be registered with the appropriate authorities before starting your project.

You must also have sufficient business capital to start a commercial activity or company in Portugal. The step-by-step process for obtaining a D2 visa includes researching and connecting with the Portuguese business community, establishing a branch office, obtaining necessary licenses and permits, opening a business account, hiring an accountant or manager, paying taxes and social contributions, transferring business capital, and filling out a visa application form available on the Portuguese consulate website.

Additional documents required may include a Portuguese company certificate, bank statements, tax and social security numbers, employment contracts, accommodation proof, business and income proof from your home country, passport and travel history, investment information, legal residency proof, flight reservation, travel medical insurance, and criminal record certificate.

The final decision on your visa application is made by the Portuguese immigration authority, SEF, and may take 2-3 months. Upon successful visa approval, you must book an appointment with SEF for biometrics and receive a two-year residence card.
