Portugal has recently launched the Digital Nomad Visa, a special visa for individuals who want to reside in Portugal while working remotely.

The visa became available on October 30, 2022, 90 days after the Portuguese government amended immigration laws. This visa is the first of its kind in Europe.

The primary requirement for the digital nomad visa is a minimum monthly income of €2,820, which is four times the minimum salary in Portugal.

This visa is specifically designed for third-country nationals and requires proof of income, occupation, and passport. A temporary stay visa is issued for a duration of one year and can be renewed for up to five years.

Family members can also accompany the principal applicant with the necessary documentation. The application process takes a minimum of 30 days.
