The Job Seeker Visa in Portugal has been introduced to address labor shortage in the country. The visa is valid for 120 days with a possible 60 day extension if a legitimate employment contract is obtained.
The visa is issued at Portuguese consulates abroad and requires documents such as passport, police clearance, travel and medical insurance, proof of financial resources, CV, and expression of interest declaration with the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP).
Appointments with the consulate can be made online and visa decisions can take 30-90 days.
The visa holder is restricted to only search for job opportunities in Portugal and can only enter Portuguese territory once.
After obtaining an employment contract, a residence permit can be applied for and will be valid for two years or the duration of the contract. The visa holder may then invite family under family reunification.
